Care Questions

Q. Why should I have my vehicle detailed?
A. Dirt and other pollutants, on your vehicle’s exterior and interior surfaces, along with lack of conditioners and protectants, are the primary causes of deterioration in a vehicle’s appearance.

Washing removes the loose pollutants, whereas detailing is a deep cleaning, rejuvenation, conditioning, and protection of all the surfaces. The defects that have penetrated surfaces are removed, such as oxidation, swirl marks, scratches and more. The interior is cleaned and protected by conditioning the leather and vinyl to prevent cracking. Cloth interiors are cleaned and protected from food/beverage spillage, etc. Interior odors are eliminated.
Detailing should be a part of your vehicle’s regularly scheduled maintenance program. Just as maintaining it mechanically is important in protecting your investment, the same is true for maintaining it’s appearance. Because of the rising costs of purchasing a new vehicle, or obtaining a quality paint job, maintaining it’s appearance is the wisest and most economical alternative.

Q. Is there anything wrong with automated car places/carwashes?
A
. There are plenty of things wrong with those places.  The machine washes these days are not using "brushes" anymore, so they advertise "brushless washes," but they are using foam pads that collect dirt off of each car that goes through and then those dirty foam pads rub and batter your finish.  After your vehicle goes through what I call the "tunnel of death" there is usually someone at the other end waiting to use a dirty rag to clean what the carwash missed and dry your paint inducing swirls and scratches at the same time.  My advice is to avoid these places or use them as an absolute last resort.

Q. How often should I wash my car at Xtreme Auto Service?
A. It depends. Personal preference, where you drive your car and where you park your car are just a few of the variables that you must take into consideration. When cars are subjected to contaminants such as pesticides, sand, salt, and industrial fallout (airplane and train residue), we recommend that your car be washed Bi- weekly to protect your cars delicate finish.

Q. What if I don’t have the time or money to wash and wax my car regularly?
A. You can’t afford not to protect your investment.Next to your home, your car is your second most valuable asset. Car spa offers safe, high quality car washes and waxes at affordable prices.

Q. I have clear coat on my vehicle. Why should I wax it?
A. Clear coat is paint that lacks pigment. It is put on at the factory to give a shiny appearance to your paint color. Because it is a paint, it is still vulnerable to all the outside elements that paint is, such as oxidation, scratches, bugs, tar, etc., and it will deteriorate, as any paint does, if it is not kept clean and protected.

A. My vehicle is brand new. Why should it be detailed?
Q. While a next to new car or brand new car may not need high reconditioning, it still needs to be maintained.  Constant upkeep will help keep your vehicle looking new for as long as possible.  If polishing is not needed to remove defects then a light cleanser can be applied after clay barring, then a wax or sealant applied to lock the beauty.  Remember that although vehicles have clear coat, the clear coat still has to be protected from the elements.

Q. Always keep a good coat of wax or paint sealant on the car.
A. In addition to providing gloss and depth, wax will also protect your car from the elements, including sunlight and many other circumstances that you will encounter, from bug carcasses to bird droppings.

Q. Make a habit of detailing your car.
A. In most cases, washing your car once a month is adequate. Once every two weeks is better and necessary if the car is subject to harsh conditions.

Q. How can I tell if my vehicle needs waxing?
A. Clear coat paints make it more difficult to determine when your vehicle needs waxing. It may need attention far sooner than its appearance would indicate. When in doubt, there are two simple tests to try to determine when your vehicle needs waxing: First, wad a clean, dry terry cloth, and rub it along a clean upper surface of your vehicle’s hood or trunk. If you hear squeaking, that’s a sure sign that the vehicle needs waxing. Second, run your fingertips along the upper surfaces of your vehicles hood and trunk. If you detect rough spots or feel drag, you also know your vehicle needs waxing. The best course of action is to get on a regular maintenance schedule, can suggest a schedule that is right for your vehicle.
